PRESERVE at the Global Forum Shaping the Future event in Madrid
PRESERVE contributed to the Global Forum on Technology, Sustainability and Humanity 2025 , held on 27–28 October 2025 at the UPM Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineers (ETSIT) in Madrid. Several PRESERVE partners actively participated in the event, contributing to discussions and knowledge exchange. The two-day event was organised by project partner Global Forum.
Under the theme “Transformational Change: Building a Collaborative Future,” the forum brought together global experts and decision-makers in Madrid to explore challenges and opportunities at the intersection of technology, sustainability, and humanity. Discussions covered digital infrastructure, urban transformation, next-generation technologies, data governance, energy and water transitions, health, nature-based solutions, as well as key issues related to cybersecurity, advanced threat analysis, and digital ethics.
The parallel session held on the afternoon of 28 October was dedicated to “Cybersecurity and AI & Ethics – Challenges for Open, Fair and Sustainable Societies.” Protecting data, digital assets, and digital infrastructure is a key priority for both public authorities and private actors. At the same time, there is a growing shift toward advanced governance frameworks for responsible AI, with new legislative, regulatory, and governance models emerging at international, regional, national, and industry levels.

The session was moderated by PRESERVE partner Carlos Urkizo (Ertzaintza, Spain) and featured contributions from PRESERVE partners Antonio Carnevale (University of Bari, Italy) and Raquel Jimenez Alcala, Head of Cybersecurity Analytics at Gradiant (PRESERVE Coordinator), Spain.
Additional speakers included Carlos Cilleruelo Rodríguez (Byron Labs, partner of the sister project ENSEMBLE), Alessandro Guarino (CEO, StAG SASU, France), and Sarah Zhao (Partner, Rimon Law, USA/China).
The session explored the interplay between cybersecurity and its broader objective of ensuring a fair and sustainable future for all. Beyond technological considerations, participants highlighted the close links with fundamental rights, the importance of trust, transparency, and resilience, the need for compliant and responsible AI in digital investigations, and the advancement of global AI governance through comparative policy analysis.
